The Brief: design three separate covers: a pocket edition of Robinson Crusoe, a deluxe edition of Robinson Crusoe, and a ‘spin-off’ survival guide. The brief was broken down as follows:
Survival Guide: a how-to guide that reflects both the practical nature of the book and the adventure of being a castaway on a desert island. Titled Washed Ashore: the ultimate guide to surviving on a desert island (by Rik Bennett).
Pocket Edition: a modern cover for readers on the move, reflecting the adventurous story in a contemporary setting, celebrating the functionality of the book as a lightweight, transportable object.
Deluxe Edition: a more luxury version for armchair readers and classic book collectors, perhaps referring back to history of the book.
